September 3, 1996

It was Junko who came to sell the draw-up pump to the apartment owned by my father. He introduced himself and said that his daughter was a Gakkai member. Then he said, "I’m Nobuhira from the electric appliance shop." This is how I met Junko.

One day I was transporting soil to a flowerbed using the bicycle I borrowed. Junko came along and said, “That shabby bike must make the work more difficult. You should use this one. It should be easier.” Shortly thereafter, he showed up with a new bicycle. I liked it very much. That was a big mistake. It was a gesture to ask me to lend him money.

“Leave it with me. You can earn enough interest to make a living without working. Bank interest is nonsense. You even have to pay tax for that.” That's how he would solicit you. Since he knew my father and he promised he would return the funds, I lent him money without a proper mortgage dated July 10, 1990 in return for a plain paper for the loan.

He intimidated me saying " Never show the loan bill to anyone. Don't tell anyone." After that, almost every month, money left me. In the morning he would call and say, "Can you lend 2 million again?"

Then I would respond saying, "I possibly can, but I have to go to work." He then ordered me to take my bankbook and stamp to work.

At that time I was working for a nursery for the aged. When Junko visited, I had to meet him at the reception. He wore a leather jacket with leather gloves. He stood there with a sneering smile.

"Why do you come after me at work! I can't leave work. " But he forced me into his car saying it was lunch. Junko would be waiting, hiding and he disappeared immediately after. "I have to go by 12."

This continued a couple of times and the clerk at the bank asked me why I was withdrawing so much. You should always write a loan bill, even if they are relatives.

I was told that Junko would give 10% interest and then 25%, but later he reduced it back to 10%. Junko did not return the principal amount, so I began to have doubts. In 1982, I begged him to return the funds and after a while two million was paid back. Soka Gakkai members are asked not to get involved in loans between members, hence I couldn't confide in anyone. I was in agony. I was afraid that if I pleaded with him, I might get nothing. Everyday I felt insecure.

I determined however that I would ask him to pay. In June 1983, I cried over the phone for my money. He paid back one million, then 500 thousand, a total of two million.

I resolved never to loan him anything else, but in 1984, I loaned him a million believing that he would return five million in July. He didn't call on the promised day. When I called him, Nobuko answered the phone and said he was in Aomori on a business trip.

In August, suddenly, Junko comes again saying, "Build a house. I will build it for you. I'll install lights on the gate and use blocks on the walls." I was wondering why he was stressing blocks. Then I found out that he had lent money to the block company so it was going to be done free of charge.

Later that year, I came down with arthritis. I asked Junko to pay back the money so that I could use it for treatment. Instead, he gave me excuses. He told me that he had loaned the money out to someone else. He also told me that he had several transformers and if he were able to sell them for 300,000yen each, he could pay me back.

Later I called him at home and again Nobuko said that Junko was out selling the transformers. I called back and he tells me that he couldn't sell them. This happened six or seven times.

On the last day of that year, Junko gave me 155,000 yen. I thought he came to pay back the five million. I shouted, “What does this mean?” Then he tore and burned the loan bill in the stove. I tried to stop him but he beat me with the iron forceps. Fortunately, my son was there to settle the situation. My fear toward Junko increased.

In 1985, I confided about Junko to my relatives. My 93-year old grandpa cried out asking why I hadn’t told him earlier. I spoke to a friend who then introduced me to a lawyer. After I confessed everything, I felt relief. I couldn't hold back my tears.

Every time I met Junko, I felt threatened. "Don't tell anyone. Never show the bill to anyone." But my records at Noukyou Bank told the whole story.

In December, I asked my lawyer to sue Junko Nobuhira.

The case was tried at the Hakodate regional court. Junko's evildoings were revealed one after the other. A receipt I endorsed for 35,000 yen was falsified as 75,000 yen. On another occasion, he added zeros to change 10,000 yen to make 1,000,000 yen. He had 3 "Takahashi" stamps of his own.

At the court, Junko would shout at my attorney, calling him a fraud. My attorney laughed it off; he knew Nobuhira was proving himself a fraud.

He even said that he was forced to endorse the 1.3 million yen loan bill and that he borrowed only seven million yen. He also said that he paid too much and he was the one to be paid back.

Junko lost the case and appealed. On May 28, his appeal was rejected at the third smaller court of the Supreme Court. The case lasted 12 years and Junko was ordered to pay me, an application for seizure of bonds were completed and the rental fee of two shops under Junko's name were seized.

I loaned Junko 18 million yen and the effort it took to get it back is indescribable.

I married after I turned 30 and my husband had Meniere disease. He had to stop working due to dizziness and at one point, he was hospitalized for a year. I had tuberculosis before getting married but I worked at wherever, and whenever, possible.

Unfortunately, my husband passed away when our daughter was in the third grade. I dressed her in clothes given to me. To support us, I worked in concrete factories with men during the day, and at night I made fishing nets at home. I saved all my money--salary, pension, everything.

I detest the Nobuhiras for taking my money. I am filled with hatred. I want compensation for the spiritual agony I went through.

The Nobuhiras deceived people. I am sure they did the same to many others. I am convinced that the fiery rage of the victims will envelope the two for what they did.
